VK4YEH - About me
I live in the western suburbs of Brisbane, in Jindalee. I am married with 4 children, 2 girls and 2 boys. All the children have gone, so I can spend time (and money) on my hobby. My wife Marg is not interested in radio at all, but is very understanding when I spend hours at the radio and computer.
My station consists of a Yaesu FT-897 and a Yaesu FT-8900R. These feed a number of RG-213 lines going to a G5RV, a 2m centre fed 5/8 vertical, a 6m 1/4 wave vertical and a 5 element 2m beam. Future plans include a 23cm rig and antenna.
I have G5 macintosh computer which is my 'workhorse', and a couple of PC's running linux variants, one as a webserver, and one for IRLP node 6556. there is also a PC running XP, that I use for ham radio stuff, mainly because of the range of software that is available for PC's.
The G5RV is oriented as a horizontal "L" with arms pointing N/S and E/W. This arrangement seems to work well, with good QSO into Asia and Europe on 20m.
I use eQSL as my QSL bureau. You can view my eQSL profile here.
My ham radio email address is: vk4yeh_spam_removal@gmail.com You will need to take _spam_removal from the address or will not work.
In my non-ham radio life I am a Mathematics teacher at Canterbury College which is situated to the south of Brisbane. In 2007 I ran an amateur radio course at the college and intend to do the same in 2008.
